Why Location Matters in Family Photos:
Decorating Your Home with Love
For some, this can seem like the most difficult decision to make when planning family photos. In fact, you’d be surprised how stumped you could get based on this question. For others, the location seems to be an afterthought. In order to ensure you can enjoy your photographs on display, and to help narrow down location ideas, here’s a few things you’ll want to keep in mind regarding how location matters in family photos.
Decorate your home with love.
When it comes to decorating a home with love, I really am an expert. You’re encouraged to dress to match the sofa. What I’m saying is to consider your home’s decor when planning your session. Coordinating your outfits and locations to match the décor style of your home ensures that you’ll love the way your images look on display. It’s also strongly suggested to coordinate the colors of your wardrobe with the walls of your house so they don’t clash.
Modern home suggestions.
Studio sessions are great for you if your home is more modern or contemporary. It guarantees a smooth transition from nearly any wall art medium that matches your decor.
For outdoor or on-location sessions, I recommend a location with modern architecture and surroundings.
Alternatives and general guidelines for when your session’s location or wardrobe colors don’t fit your home.
If your home is decorated with a southern rustic style, but your session was done inside the studio, I recommend a farmhouse wood or even vintage style frame to help blend the elements together.
On the other hand, if your home is modern chic, but your session took place in an open field or farm with grass, I’d recommend an acrylic or metal print wall grouping, or matted prints surrounded by a black frame.
Lifestyle sessions inside your home.
When you choose to have a lifestyle session inside your home, it’s a guarantee your wall and table art will match your home. You won’t have to worry about picking the location that matches your home decor best because the session will be centered around your natural environment.
