How to Tell Your Love Story in Engagement Photos
First off, congrats on your engagement! You’re probably feeling both thrilled and overwhelmed if you’re reading this and have lots of planning ahead of you. If you want to tell your love story during your engagement photo session, continue reading this post.
Telling Your Love Story in Your Engagement Photos: Interests
My husband, Pedro, and I met over the love for basketball and music.
What types of things do you guys like doing together?
If we can incorporate about 1-3 of your interests into your session, this will help us create memorable photos for you two. Some examples of your favorite interests could include: cycling in your neighborhood, Netflix and chill, walking around the park, watching your favorite Astros or Houston Rockets.

The Beginning of Your Love Story
You could tell me how you guys first met. If it’s a local place, it’d be a sentimental location for your session. We could even recreate the scene or add in a few more of your favorite interests into it. We’d need either the property manager’s written permission or a commercial permit.
Using your proposal to tell your love story in your engagement photos
If you missed out on images of your actual proposal, we could recreate the moment. Sharing your proposal story with your save the dates or invitations. We can capture the moment as if it were really happening. On the other hand, you could use the same elements from the proposal and use it to add sentimental value.
Your favorite ‘spot’ for your engagement photo session
You know that favorite spot on a Friday night you guys always hang out at? This could be where you guys had your first kiss or date night activity. Share photos of your favorite spots, and I’ll check them out to see if they make for a great engagement photo location.
How to Tell Your Love Story in Engagement Photos Summary
I realize for some of my clients that their dog may be their best friend. Do you have a dog? Your dog is welcome to be included in your engagement session. If you don’t have pets, but have children already, I’m sure we can include them in a few fun poses.
In closing, here are five ways you can tell your love story in engagement photos:
- Start with the beginning [location]
- Incorporate your common interests
- Recreate your proposal
- Go to your favorite spot
- Include other loved ones
