Tone down those accessories

Limit the accessories and keep them to a minimum. Try not to mix and match too many crazy accessories and prints or features. Doing too much can make them clash and trust me, you wouldn’t want that. 

Timeless or trendy?

Consider whether or not you’d like your images to be timeless or if you want to show off the trends of the decade. What I mean by this is when you look back on images from the 70s and 80s, you KNOW those images were taken during those decades. Is that something you want? If so, cool beans –wear the biggest trends of this year then. However, if you’d like to keep it a bit more classic, you’ll want to refrain from adding in original accessories. 

Hairstyling tips

When it comes to your hair, I think it’s important to stay true to you. I capture authenticity, and I definitely don’t want you to feel uncomfortable in your images. I recommend going through a trial with your stylist or practice doing your hairstyle yourself. Practice your hairstyle in advance and take a few selfies to see how it photographs. In addition, if you wear bangs on the regular, you wouldn’t want to pin them up just for your session. And if you always wear your hair down, you’ll feel more relaxed if you keep it down.

Watch the skin!

This one is perhaps one of the most important. Try not to make any major changes in the final weeks prior to your senior session. This includes skin bleaching and faux tans that have the potential to make you look like an oompa loompa. Also, when it comes to hair, try not to go too drastic and switch from black to bleach blonde. This also includes major haircuts that would make you cry simply because it looked “edgy”.

A “beat” face

Makeup looks a lot differently on professional cameras than smartphones. Lighting and professional equipment have a lot to do with this. A professional makeup artist who is knowledgeable of what to do can help keep your face looking flawless. 

Finer details

Consider your beauty details like your nails, hair, teeth, and skin. In the weeks leading up to your senior session, start using a whitening toothpaste, whitening kit, or even peroxide + baking soda mixture to help whiten those teeth a bit. Also pay close attention to your skin care routine and try not to pick at bumps or acne. In addition, shave or wax a couple days prior. Then follow up at the salon to get you a nice clear coat or French tip manicure the day before. Wearing open toe shoes? Go ahead and add the pedi too.
