You spend so much time and money on getting your details together. After choosing your wedding venue, guest list, and vendors, details are the most stressed about things. Here are the top detail shots you absolutely must have on your wedding day, from a photographer’s point-of-view.

Must Have Detail Shots

Rings and jewelry

Ring and jewelry images rank at the top of my list.

Did you know that the wedding ring symbolizes eternal love? Yesssss. Maybe we can write a blog post on that one day. At any rate, something so special such as your late mother’s earrings or grandfather’s watch, must be captured. Even more so when the loved one who gifted the item(s) to you isn’t physically there to share your wedding day with you.

P.S. During the ceremony, the wedding band is placed on your hand. When in doubt on the placement of your engagement ring or band, the band is always placed on first. The tale says that is because it is closest to your heart.

Wardrobe + Shoes

Girl, you spent hours, maybe even months, deciding what you were to wear. Who knows how many dresses you tried on. Let’s not get started on the measurements for the tux and goodness gracious, we can’t forget the shoes. And before you ask, your veil or headpiece counts too. Besides, you wouldn’t want the day to pass without getting images of them, right?

Florals and/or Bouquet

Next up are your gorgeous florals and bouquet. Flowers wilt. We can’t let the day end without photographing the one thing on your wedding day that won’t last more than a day or two. Therefore florals are must have detail shots.

Cake, Cake, Cake + Deserts

Whereas the flowers will wilt, the cake will surely get eaten. On the odd chance it doesn’t, it’s probably going to spoil or get thrown out. You know those cakes you picked out? After searching for the perfect design and bakery within a 100 mile radius. You finally found the ‘one’. By 9:00p.m. you and your lovebug will either be cutting your first slice of cake, or have done so already. Similar to florals, the cake will be gone by tomorrow (that is unless you freeze some for your one year anniversary). We’ve got to grab a detail shot of these tasty treats while we can.

P.S. That’s before you stuff your faces in it lol.

Stationary or Invitation Suite

Go ahead and bring an extra copy of your invitation suite on your big day. Sounds odd? Not so much. We’ll lay them flat and grab a flower or two from the florist for a nice touch. Especially because we’ll already be taking other must have detail shots.
