Best Background Colors for Headshots – Houston Professional Headshots
There are countless background color options and backdrop styles for your headshot session. With so many options to choose from, it’s clear to see how it can be overwhelming. At the same time, you might feel like you don’t have many options. Whether that be because of industry styles, your own wardrobe, uniform, or even the colors you have in your own closet. In this post, Niesha Fuentes, a Houston Headshots photographer will share the best background colors for headshots and how to coordinate with them.

Gray: The professional standard background color for headshots
Gray is my preferred background color for all branding and headshot images. The reason being is that I can adjust the lighting to make it appear as a lighter gray or darker gray color. In addition, it is a nice neutral color that tends to pair well with nearly any color outfit, including darker wardrobe colors.
Blue as a background color for your headshots
Indigo, navy, and “true” blue background colors work with lighter and bold colors such as pink, red, and yellow. Of course other colors can be paired with it, but the colors listed are a great place to start. I would, however, refrain from combining the blue background color with wardrobe colors such as green and purple.

Incorporating other background colors in headshots
At your request, other headshot background options such as white and avocado green are also available. White is a pleasurable option for commercial images and differing wardrobe patterns and colors. On the other hand, greens and gray help give your images a fine art or modernized look.
Best background colors for headshots
When it comes to background colors for headshots, gray is the industry standard. Although that doesn’t mean you can’t experiment with other colors. The color blue provides your audience with a sense of trust and customer loyalty.
Nevertheless, ultimately it will come down to your wardrobe colors and styling, along with the look your brand is going for.
