Are Senior Pictures Worth It?
If you’re a high school senior, you might be wondering if you should bother taking graduation pictures? After all, you’ve already been through all the hard work of high school. Maybe you’re even asking yourself, “Are senior pictures worth it?”
I think most of us would say yes. We want to capture those memories and have them to look back on for years to come. And we want our kids to know how awesome we were when they were little.
In fact, graduation pictures are an important part of life. They show who you are and what you have achieved. Today I’ll share some of the most common reasons high school seniors and parents feel senior pictures are worth it.
Something to be proud of
When you take graduation pictures, you want to feel proud of yourself. You’ve just completed 12-14 years of education and will soon embark on the journey to adulthood.
It’s a time to celebrate all the hard work you’ve done throughout your time in K-12 or homeschool education. However, most seniors don’t think about what their graduation photos look like. Graduation is an accomplishment that you’ll remember for a lifetime. And it’s important to have a good graduation picture that reflects these emotions. Senior pictures are an important part of the high school experience. Don’t believe me? Just look at the high school yearbooks.
A reflection of your past
Plus, the older you get, the more you tend to forget how things were during this time of your life. In fact, you may even find yourself wondering what life was like during this time. With that being said, a nice way to remember these days is to take senior portraits. They’ll be a fun reminder of your past, and give you a visual representation of what it was like during this period of your life. They are a great way to make sure that the memories of this time in your life don’t get forgotten.
A keepsake for the future
High school senior pictures are also used to document an important time in your life. Think of them as a time capsule. They are a fun way to remember the people who made you who you are today. With that being said, pictures are a great way to preserve a memory.
Plus, you can use them to decorate a home or office. So make sure you hire a professional senior photographer to take them. Some photographers, like myself, even offer one group shot with your family. As long as all of your family member dress up and coordinate with you, it’ll make for a great updated family photo. Unless of course this isn’t something your parents would like to do.
I did want to mention one of my favorite reasons for senior photos before I move on. They show your parents (and yourself) how much you’ve grown.
Other reasons that make senior pictures worth it
I think they are a great way to get your friends and family together. You can use them to celebrate special occasions like a graduation party. Some seniors order wall art for easels, or even have their senior photographer design a custom book for them to use at their graduation party. Furthermore, senior portrait sessions are a great way to show off your personality, interests, activities, and hobbies.
How to make your senior pictures worth it
As I mentioned above, your senior year is a time for celebration and reflection. Since these photographs will be the only visual record that your friends and family will have of you in your senior year, why not make them memorable?
Here are a few places senior pictures ideas and places to take them that will keep them memorable:
- different landmark locations around your hometown
- local parks and hangout spots
- in front of your childhood home
- taking pictures with your friends and family
- in front of your high school
Final Thoughts
In conclusion, the older you get, the more you’ll appreciate what you had when you were younger. In fact, 50 years from now you’ll probably be glad you took your senior pictures and have them to look back on. They’ll be a great reminder of a time when you were young and fun. And these portraits can be a source of inspiration for your future.
